Driving New England is a regional automotive publication covering the vehicles, roads, destinations, and people of the six-state region. We tell the stories of how New Englanders actually drive — winter roads and frost heaves, coastal back roads and mountain passes, the trucks that work here and the cars worth the trip.
What sets our coverage apart is who writes it. Every review and feature comes from a working automotive journalist — writers with decades of bylines across the outlets you already read, who test vehicles in the real conditions of the Northeast rather than a sunny proving ground a continent away. When we say a vehicle handles a Maine pothole or a New Hampshire ice storm, it’s because one of us drove it through one.
Our writers are members of the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA), the regional professional association of automotive journalists, founded in 1987. NEMPA membership is our writers’ credential — a marker of independent, experienced expertise — but the work on this site stands on its own. You can learn more about the association at nempa.org.
Independent by design. Our evaluations are our own. We don’t accept payment for coverage, and a favorable word here is never for sale. That independence is the entire point: it’s what makes an honest assessment worth reading — and worth trusting.
Explore the site by what you’re looking for: Rides for vehicles, Roads for the drives themselves, Places for destinations worth the trip, and People for the figures who shape the industry across our region.
